Where there is a YMCA There is a place to be well and know that you belong

Do you know someone whose life has changed because of the Y?

Y Stories are stories of courage and hope. By supporting children, adults, and seniors to join the YMCA, you’re inspiring the beginning of their Y Story. Together, we are creating a community where everyone is seen, valued, and feels like they belong.

Their Y Story starts with you.

By donating today, you’re directly helping children, parents, and grandparents who are struggling. Every dollar raised helps our charity meet the growing needs of real people in our community.

The [BAP] program has provided our daughter with an opportunity to stay active and build great relationships. She looks forward to her time with the group each day, including Wendy Lee, Kim and the staff. Pick-up time is often filled with disappointment that she’ll miss out on the rest of the fun!

Our son thrives in the toddler room learning and developing new skills constantly. Emily, Tracy, and Donna are always so excited to greet the kids each morning and that positive energy flows throughout the day! Through the usual boisterous and often chaotic toddler behaviours, the staff truly are superheroes!

We’re so fortunate to have this amazing group of people who care for our children each day!

I suffered a minor attack to my heart & diagnosed with C.O.P.D. My health has been severely compromised & walking for any length of time or distance is extremely difficult. Then Covid happened, which was devastating for many seniors who are compromised & live alone. I learned of all the wonderful programs offered in our community by The Lunenburg County YMCA … I was especially interested in the “Grocery Delivery Program.” I contacted [the YMCA] and they arranged to have one of their very caring employees take my grocery “list” once a week & deliver [them] the same day … with a smile & a cheery word! These workers are pleasant, professional and have become like an extended family! I’m truly grateful for this service; It helps me manage health issues. Thank you again from my heart.”

Three years ago it was time for me to take better care of my health. I worked with a dietican and looked for a good supportive community to excerise with.

The y provided me with such a community. There is an acceptance of who you are and your capabilities. You develop good rapport with fellow gym members and increase self- confidence when your fitness improves.

When I was diagnosed with a serious illness my recovery went much smoother and quicker because I had taken the step to join the y and improve my overall health. It all has paid off.
